MARCH 11, 2022 -- Good Evening Hillstown Grange Gardeners,
A few things I would like to share; I am also going to be doing a Seed Starting and Soil Block Making Presentation twice next week, at Hillstown Grange Hall at 617 Hills Street, East Hartford, from 7:00 pm. - 8:30 pm. on Tuesday, March 15th. The Beginner and Intermediate Gardener Workshop and on Thursday, March 17th, The Garden Talk, same time, same place. So some lucky gardeners that come down to the Hall will be going home with a six pack of sown peppers or chilis, compliments of a gardening angel.
So first up, what is Soil Block Making? This video with Petra at Fruition Seeds should explain the process as I do a seed germination experiment in my never ending process of improving a good, better, best method. Or just finding a different way. I bought a Fiskars Seed Block Maker, same principle. So for those who come to The Hall, they'll get a hands on demo.

From Renee's Garden Seeds, a video on How to Grow Cilantro. It seems every time I got to the point it was ready to harvest the plant, it would bolt. I learn some things that hopefully will bring in a bountiful harvest. Did you know that the seeds are called Coriander? If you want to have fun with your seedman open the packet and say; "Just as I thought, Coriander seeds, I told you I want to grow Cilantro." "Tell him you know Coriander seeds when you see them and this is them". It is the little things that make me smile, I like seed humor, it starts off as a giggle and can grow into a big laugh.
